uma versão stand alone ?
really fun, lots of potential! wish humans wouldn't hide themselves behind the shack...
how is the progress for the next update
Im here since you say that late janaury will the work begin around, but like what stuff is planned to be included next update and what other stuff is for much later updates also have a nice day
love your game btw
<3
I'm excited that you're looking forward to what's coming next! I'll see what I can do about making a roadmap for future updates to share when I have some more time to work on it :3
It would be nice to see a roadmap
so is the roadmap finish?
This is really fun, but I do feel like characters hiding under the shack makes things really frustrating, since a human can just slip under there and become impossible to take out.
Overall, this is still really fun! hope to see it expanded if you decide to do so!
I want to expand it for sure! I feel like there's tons to fix and improve and I feel like it has the potential to become something really special X)
I know it is endless but i think i won at the game i think wave 15 ish in current version should be considered the win, especially with how laggy it gets! You can really stack up mana orbs from kobolds and levels up with a kobold blast lvl up focus build and magnet focus build at some point i had both lvl 102 and then even like a lvl 40 hoop lvl 40ish mana charge lvl 20 ish insta tf ... So yeah the lag mainly was cause whenever i activated the kobold blast so much xp would be scattered around it would drop the frames and lag ...
Woah that's insane hahah - thanks for playing it for so long despite its lack of stuff to do right now! XD I definitely want to give it an end state in the future, possibly new unlockable levels when you complete one.
so when do you think will be the next update
Probably not until around late January. I've just got a lot to work on right now outside of this game, and unfortunately I only have so much time in the day, but I'll get to it when I can!
ok, i understand i also have another idea for a variant of kobold and thats the armored one, with is a knight turned kobold, the armor works as a second health bar until it break and with the armor breaking it could into a normal kobold or strong kobold
It's great! A way to get some armor for the house would be good too!
A little qol change: When the player is vacuuming mana, and the menu appears, they can unintentionally click an upgrade. Shifting it so that the input requires a new click when the menu appears might help.
I managed to get to wave 17, level 300+ before I decided to give it a rest. The strategy I found was to get each ability once, then rush Higher Voltage to level 15, and then focus on leveling Magnet and Kobold Blast for a while. Eventually, you'll start to level up fast enough to catch up on the other upgrades, especially at the later waves when they seem to go on for a very long time.
Anyway, the formula for this game is a lot of fun, and as others have mentioned, some variety as the game goes on could definitely improve the game. Here are a few ideas I had for upgrades/kobolds/enemies:
- A passive that allows you to get more mana from each TF
- Some way of healing your shack in a pinch, maybe an ability the commands nearby kobolds to make repairs.
- Some way to heal kobolds, could be an ability, or a special kobold type.
- A passive upgrade that improves kobold stats (health/damage)
- A "chain lightning" ability that does damage and jumps from human to human within a certain range of each other.
- A "tail strike" ability that knocks back humans within a certain range of the shack.
- A "magic breath" ability that does damage in a cone/line originating from the shack.
- An ability like poof, but with a longer cooldown, that spawns a special kobold type.
- A passive that adds a small % chance that a TF becomes a kobold variant instead.
- Maybe different enemy types, that then become special kobold types.
- Some kobold ideas: A healer kobold or repair kobold like mentioned above, a quicker kobold, a healthier kobold, one that does more damage, or one that does damage in an AoE around it.
These types could all be distinguished by color or size, or they could have unique sprites/animations.
-Some enemy ideas: A knight that has more health/damage but is considerably slower, a wizard that does damage in an AoE, a rogue that cannot be individually targeted, but is susceptible to AoE abilities, a paladin that can revert kobolds (this would be a major threat). They could first appear as bosses at the end of earlier waves, but then start to appear regularly at later waves.
Finally, I've got a few quality-of-life suggestions:
- An expanded game area will be very important if you're going to add more features. I would suggest a 1:1, square-like aspect ratio for the field. With that, the humans could spawn a little further from the shack, and there could be more of them without overwhelming the player too much.
- A description of what upgrading your abilities will do. For example: "Increases AoE per upgrade," or, "Increases mana production per upgrade."
- Bugs mentioned by other users, plus a bug where the shack became invisible around waves 12-13. I'm not quite sure what the exact cause is though.
- A downloadable executable, and a way to save progress if the game becomes much longer.
- Once you have a lot of kobolds, and a high level Kobold Blast, the sheer amounts of mana droplets can really cause the game to chug. One way I could think of to help with this, is to combine larger amounts of mana output into fewer (maybe larger) blobs.
_________________________________________________________________________
I realize I dumped quite a lot here, but I figured I'd just vomit out all of these ideas and let you see if any of them are interesting enough to implement. IMO, this game and Ewemanity are the two best in the jam, and it really goes to show that a simple, but effective game loop really goes a long way. Also, I'm glad to see some of you teaming up to make games, there are a lot of talented devs in the community. Keep up the good work, and good luck!
It's not bad; this could evolve into a more complex and interesting game with more investment. For now, it's entertaining, but only for a short time. There are no kobold variants, only one enemy type, no bosses, and no objectives beyond leveling up and surviving as long as possible, since the game never ends. There's definitely a lot that could be improved.
I managed to get to wave 13 and level 61. I have a feeling this is endless and no ending so I got bored eventually. Pretty fun mostly gets repetitive after a while though. Enjoyed the kobold tfs
Hey, I'm surprised you made it that far!! It is currently endless yeah. Do you think you'd play it more if there were tons more human/kobold variants, more upgrades/abilities and a win condition that unlocks new levels if you survive enough waves? Just curious...
Yup! Maybe even an ending too would be fun.
i dont know if this is gonna still be update later but i feel like if there was a update there should be kobold variants
I'm curious... What would you have in mind if I were to work on more kobold variants? Anything you'd like to see added?
like a few that a healer of other kobolds, other being much strong and with more health but slower, ranged kobolds all that stuff
I can't believe these aspiring kobolds keep showing up at my secret shack.
TIPS BASED ON AN HOUR OF GAMEPLAY:
The green blobs are mana. Hold down the left mouse button to collect them and get upgrades.
The goal is to keep the humans from destroying the shack. They can damage it EVEN IF THEY'RE NOT ADJACENT TO IT! They can damage it WHILE YOU'RE CHOOSING UPGRADES! They can damage it when HIDING BEHIND THE SHACK! There are no transparent human outlines to show they're behind the shack, so keep clicking everywhere!
Humans hiding behind the shack and attacking during upgrade selection are definitely bugs lmao - I'll make sure to get these fixed ASAP!!
Cute and simple. I noticed that the music track doesn't seem to loop when it's finished, though.
Hi, music composer here. There is an audio bug in Godot web exports that I just found out about. Should be fixed soon.
It seems like you level up really slow compared to how fast the lair is destroyed, at least on my end? I got to about wave 5 before 2 humans approached and my left click didn't recharge fast enough, my health was gone in seconds.
Yeah, they can destroy the shack way too fast. I'm working on an update to address this.
