Theme will be announced once the jam starts along with an optional prompt and a limitation you must comply with.
Make a game that has dinosaurs. Its that simples. Either dinosaurs are characters in the game, enemies or subject of the game in some other way. The game could be any genre but must have the main themes of dinosaurs.
For 3D, here is a resource with ton of dinosaur models. Look on itch for more. Or look up dinosaur sprites online. Make sure they are not AI generated.

Following this completely optional prompt, your game should be about the everyday, common place things. Regular jobs, everyday occurances, routine activities of people. Or maybe the game is about breaking free from the everyday and routine.
This is an optional prompt and you don't have to follow it. It is only here to give your idea some flavor or to inspire you.
Nothing in your game should be animated. Specially characters. This limitation is meant to push you to focus on mechanics and finding the fun in your game instead of visuals.
However, if you have time after finishing the mechanics and content of your game, you can polish the visuals in other ways or add 'juice' to it.
Your game must follow the theme and limitation. Using the optional prompt is up to you. It won't cost points if skipped, but good use may earn bonus points.
It's up to you how you interpret the theme, and you can elaborate how your game fits the theme on your game page.
Themes are meant to be a challenge. If you're not a fan of the theme, don't get discouraged. Instead, see it as a chance to get creative, have fun, and try something you otherwise wouldn't have.

Get your games played by our panel of experts (shown on the jam page) and your peers. Get valuable feedback on your games. And extra visibility for your games as we share on all socials (reddit, discord, bluesky and linkedin).
Winning game will be highlighted and featured on all Pak Game Dev socials and get special front page featuring on our website. The developers will get Jam Winner flair on the subreddit and/or Jam Winner role on our discord. And they'll get the official jam winner badge to show on the game page

Teams are limited to a maximum of 3 members. Solo developers are welcome!
Clearly credit all team members and external assets used on your game page.
Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards all participants.
No AI-generated content, pornography, nudity, or illicit drug references are allowed.
Only games published after the jam's starting date will be accepted. Only one submission per person/team is allowed.
Ensure you have the rights to use all assets. Create your own or use freely available packs.
A Game Jam is a short event where you and others work together to create a small game. Most Jams have some kind of restriction on theme or style to get you thinking about games in a new way.
Pakistan Game Jams aims to be a way to encourage Pakistani game developers, provide opportunity for learning and skill building, and bring awesome Pakistani creatives together. You are encouraged to form teams but solo developers are welcome too.
This Game Jam is strictly for Pakistanis. Your team must have at least one person with a strong connection to Pakistan. That includes everyone living in Pakistan and Pakistani diaspora.
This Pakistan Game Jam will be ranked. Meaning winners will be decided based on voting by the public.
Anyone can play and vote on the games. Here are the voting categories:
Fun: Was it enjoyable to play?
Creativity: Did it do something interesting, fresh or original?
Theme: Did it make good use of the theme and limitation?
Presentation: Rate the art, sound, story, and overall feel?
Participants should make a small game that somehow includes the theme. You are free and encouraged to explain your incorporation of theme and optional prompt on your the itch page and voters are encouraged to take this explanation into consideration.
Games can be made using any technology or game engine you like. Some popular game engines are Godot, Unity, Unreal and Game Maker Studio but you can choose anything as long as the game can be played inside a browser. From text based adventures to first person shooters all genres and types of games are welcome.
Because we want as many people to play as possible. Making your game compatible with the browser makes sure that most devices will be able to run it. And players don't have to worry about downloading a virus.
