A small weekend project i did, after realizing how many games use simple background patterns and how there is no tool that does those animations quickly for you.
Sometimes the exported gifs might be a little large. In that case i recommend https://ezgif.com/optimize to slim them down.
Note: The tool is free to use in your browser — the downloadable version is identical to the browser version and is only needed if you’d like to support my work or use it offline.

Very nice tool and very underrated, with some offset values exposed it could be better for being seamless.
Thank you! What do you mean by offset values? Squares not starting at 0 coordinates?
Sometimes it is not seamless with some animation. It could be if there was an offset to move the patterns. Maybe I failed to put a good resolution not sure, playing with resolution helps.
Yeah, it's probably when for certain resolution the squares can't be perfectly square. I see where the offset you mentioned comes into play👍

When I try to edit my video, the animation looks weird. Is there any way to fix this?
What do you mean "edit your video"? Is somemthing broken im the tool or after you exported the gif? If it's the second try a higher resolution, but it's not really within my power to help here if the gif itself looks fine
Everything looked fine in the tool, but when I exported the gif it looked like that.

Desktop version doesn't seem to be working (Windows 11)
hm. do you get any error message or is it just not opening? i'm also in windows 11 and it's working for me.
no error message, the window is just a white screen unfortunately
hmm. and you extracted it from the zip? it is basically the same app as the downloadable web version. so it is strange to me that it doesn't work.
is it important to you? or can you live without it? i currently don't know how to troubleshoot it exactly.

Awesome tool! I just wish there was a way to save the image as JPG or PNG when the speed is set to 0, as it's just a single frame.

Ohhh, this is clearly a good tool!
Cool application! Any plans to update this? Could be great for use as an animation template. more intricate movement and distortions and some more patterns, frame count and framerate... o_O Edit: I realized this came out less than a day ago, no pressure!!!

I was trying to do something kind of like this for my background awhile back but I couldn't figure it out, so I'm very chuffed you got this tool up XD
My only critique I can offer is the itch site background has some seams, but otherwise the tool is really solid and simple. I rate this 5 stars anyway.
